Marc Schwartz’ practices in the area of estate planning with a focus on guiding clients through an often confusing maze of financial and legal decisions to ensure the wellbeing of their families and the realization of cherished family goals. His considerable legal expertise includes asset protection, wealth preservation and values-based planning as well as strategies for small businesses and real estate owners.

Prior to joining Steckbauer Weinhart, LLP, Mr. Schwartz was in-house counsel to a prominent real estate investment company that raised funds from high net worth families and large institutions in order to purchase residential, retail and industrial properties nationwide. Marc eventually became the General Counsel of the company and a trusted advisor to the family-based ownership.

Marc is a frequently requested lecturer throughout Southern California on a variety of topics, including family wealth planning, wealth preservation, asset protection and maximizing inheritances. Designated as a Personal Family Attorney by the Family Wealth Planning Institute, Marc enjoys educating his community.

Mr. Schwartz is a member of the State Bar of California. He received his B.S. in political science from U.C. Berkeley, and graduated magna cum laude from Pepperdine School of Law, where he received the American Jurisprudence Awards in Real Estate Transactions, Legal Research and Writing, as well as Constitutional Law.

Representative Matters

  • Represented numerous families to establish plans that establish temporary and permanent guardianship for children and establishment of lifetime asset protection trusts to protect assets from creditors and divorce.
  • Assisted Wells Fargo, Deutsche Bank and HSBC in hundreds of post foreclosure transactions involving portfolios of residential properties
  • Represented Universal Music Group in leasing transactions in Southern California resulting from purchase of EMI music operations
  • Represented Arixa Capital Advisors in the structuring and formation of fund to make loans to developers in order to rehabilitate residential properties
  • Directed an international retailer on entering U.S. market and leasing its first retail establishment in Santa Monica, California.
  • Represented a prominent developer in the acquisition and proposed development of mixed use transit oriented 262 apartment project in the Chinatown area of downtown Los Angeles involving $130 million tax exempt bond financing, $25 million investment by the City of Los Angeles, and $16 million in Prop 1C money.
